Amirudin Shari, Menteri Besar Selangor, has announced that November 18 will be a state holiday due to the 15th General Election(GE15) being held on that date.

He explained that this was owing to the large number of voters registered to vote in other states yet are working and living in Selangor.

"Therefore, the Selangor state government has decided to declare a public holiday on Friday, Nov 18, 2022, a day before polling day," he said.

At a press conference, Amirudin also urged Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob to announce a statewide public holiday for all Malaysians on November 19 to ease the process for people to vote.

"Following the automatic voter registration and the lowered age limit for voters, Selangor has the highest number of voters nationwide at 3,677,848," added Amirudin.
