The ePPAx (Expatriate Placement and Permit Application System) is a centralized online platform in Malaysia for processing and administrating foreign worker permits and expatriate placements. The system is intended to make it easier and more efficient for employers or businesses who wish to engage foreign employees or expatriates to do so while at the same time following the correct procedures as provided by the Malaysian immigration rules.

What is ePPAx?

An online platform like ePPAx is essential to provide efficiency in the process of application handling to the Department of Labour Peninsula Malaysia (JTKSM). This in turn contributes to the goal of the government to issue support no later than by the end of 2016, which was set in 2011. Furthermore, they aimed and planned the platform to avoid and reduce the chances of abuse of power at all the levels that are involved in providing support and approval for the employment of foreign workers.

This system also supports employers by providing up-to-date information on the status of their applications and simplifying documentation submission, making it a more convenient process compared to manual applications.

ePPAx Process and Requirement

Before applying for permits through EPPAX, there are several steps and requirements that employers must fulfill:

1. Eligibility:

  • Currently, only registered companies in Malaysia are allowed to apply for foreign worker permits through EPPAX. The company must also comply with local labor laws and foreign worker quotas.

2. Documents Required:

  • Business registration documents.
  • A copy of the employment contract for the foreign worker.
  • Passport and relevant immigration information for the foreign employee.
  • Proof of compliance with Malaysia's minimum wage and worker welfare regulations.

3. Approval Process:

  • Once the required documents are submitted through EPPAX, the application will be reviewed by immigration authorities.
  • Employers will receive updates on the application status, and if any additional information or documentation is needed, they will be notified through the platform.

4.  Processing Time:

  • Processing times may differ depending on the number of applications received and the nature of the case. Nevertheless, as mentioned above, the EPPAX system is intended to enhance the general speed and efficiency of permit applications.
