According to a 2017 survey, 57% of job applicants think benefits and perks are "among their top priorities" when accepting a position. Benefits are still top of mind for job applicants and even vital for retaining employees who are considering jumping ship.

If a company wants to reengage and retain its employees in 2022, it should have the following offerings.

 

1. Adaptability

Flexible employment possibilities have been encouraged by younger generations. However, no two employees are capable of working in the same way. When flexible employment is available, a company can have a diverse workforce with various abilities. Companies that build a diverse workplace will reap significant rewards in the long run.

Due to a dearth of flexible roles, many firms miss out on hiring excellent personnel. Just because someone performs better in a different environment doesn't mean they aren't valuable to your firm.

Managers and HR practitioners should think about accommodating a variety of employee types by brainstorming realistic ideas to establish flexible stances. For example, many people flourish in remote jobs because they can generate superior work from the convenience of their own homes. On the other hand, some people prefer to go to work on some days and finish their work at home on others.

Management should deliver real solutions based on the company's analytics rather than speculating how employees can better.  Company analytics can be calculated by the overall performance of every employee combined in all areas. 

After the data has been gathered, management can pinpoint the issue areas. For example, perhaps most employees have trouble filling out forms in a specific format. If this is the case, the organisation can change the format so that all employees can have an easier time performing the task.

Employee evaluation comes with analytics. Managers must provide quality constructive criticism to evaluate employees fairly and accurately. Unfortunately, some HR professionals and companies misinterpret harsh feedback as constructive criticism.

The problem is that the harsh feedback does not encourage employees to improve. Rather than annual performance reviews, today's employees expect regular feedback. Therefore, they need to know how to become better employees in a constructive way to grow and improve.

 

Companies who are unaware of these new developments risk falling behind in the job market and losing key present personnel. However, they can reengage employees and stay competitive with other organisations by providing flexibility, employee wellness perks, new tech, and regular feedback, all while creating a happier workforce.
