Employers Can Now Get COVID-19 Self-Test Kits From SOCSO

During the recovery phase, the Human Resources Ministry via Social Security Organisation (Socso) is providing the Covid-19 self-test kits to employers to speed up the Covid-19 Screening Programme.

According to HR Minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan, employers who are yet to apply for the programme could select the test types they need, which are:

• Self-test kits that workers themselves can carry out, or

• The Rapid Test Kit (RTK) Antigen tests carried out professionally at clinics

He said that starting yesterday, Socso distributed the RTK antigen test kits to employers to implement the Covid-19 screening process for their workers. As of now, Socso has received 23,000 submissions from employers to obtain the RTK Antigen test kits. 

Saravanan said that Socso would distribute both types of test kits to employers based on the number of workers actively contributing to Socso. 

The minister stated that the program aimed to help employers carry out Covid-19 screening tests faster and easier. 

Types of test kits provided by Socso

1. COVID-19 Rapid Test Kit Antigen Self-Test (Saliva)

Employers must ensure that COVID-19 screening tests are conducted among employees. Employers must also report screening test results through the PSP Portal.

Employers can refer to the guideline here on how to report the screening test result.

2. COVID-19 Rapid Test Kit Antigen IVD (Test by doctors)

Employers need to coordinate the screening test with clinics and hospitals that the employer has selected. The employer must bear the screening test's service cost. 

The clinics/hospitals will report the screening results via the SSP Portal.

 Eligibility requirements for the Covid-19 Screening Programme

• This programme is open to all employers who actively contribute to SOCSO. 

• All employees, including foreign workers, are eligible based on reviewing employees' active contributions in the SOCSO ASSIST Portal.

• Employees who have undergone screening under any of SOCSO's COVID-19 Screening Programme, such as the Prihatin Screening Programme (PSP) and the COVID-19 Foreign Workers Screening Programme (PSPA) before, are still eligible to receive test kits under this programme.

How to apply for test kits

1. Employers can apply for test kits through the PSP Portal at https://psp.perkeso.gov.my. Employers must first register for the programme.

2. SOCSO will determine the number of eligible employees based on the employees' active contributions on the SOCSO ASSIST Portal.

3. If the number of test kits applied is more than the number of eligible employees, the employer must update the number of employees and contributions on the SOCSO ASSIST Portal.

4. The employer must also ensure that the number of test kits applied is the same as that of contributing employees.

5. Employers can refer to the guidelines for the application and test kits supply at the PSP Portal. 

Delivery of test kits

SOCSO will deliver the test kits within ten days from the employers' application date. Employers must plan for the screening test before ordering the test kits.
