HRDF Will Conduct On-Site Inspections

The Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) has announced that it will be conducting on-site inspections to verify the amount of monthly Human Resources Development (HRD) levy paid are in accordance to any provision or/and regulation of PSMB Act 2001.

According to a statement made on the fund’s facebook page, the inspection will focus on whether the amount of monthly levy payments made by registered employers tally with the number of loyal employees employed.

Employers are needed to prepare and provide documents such as Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) statements, Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) salary summaries or statements to verify the amount of 1% monthly wages of all Malaysian employees during the inspection.

An inspecting officer from the HRDF Enforcement Department will carry out the on-site inspection. There will be no prior notice to the employer and the officer will inspect on a working day at any time between 9 am to 5 pm.

A warning

Any employer who wrongly declares and has made levy payment arrears that is not in accordance with the right amount is required to immediately submit Form through the eTRiS system and make payment for the understated amount.

It is also reminded that action can and will be taken on registered employers under Section 40 of the PSMB Act 2001 against any person found to makes in writing, or signs any declaration, return or other document required by the PSMB Act 2001 or any regulations made under the PSMB Act 2001 which is untrue or incorrect in any particular and shall on conviction be liable to a fine not exceeding twenty thousand ringgit or imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years or to both.

HRDF registered employers are fully responsible in ensuring that all levy payment made are in  accordance to any provision or/and regulation of PSMB Act 2001.

On Dec 11, HRDF announced that it is expecting to train 1.2 million Malaysian workers in 2019, using RM900 million HRDF levy that it will collect from registered employers.

HRDF also announced that it has appointed four new members to its board of directors. The four new members are Datuk Raiha Azni Abd. Rahman, Sia Tze Yong, Govindasamy Annamalai and Datuk Abdul Kadir ME Sikkandar.
